QUESTION OF THE DAY: Do you find yourself more connected to herbs/plants or crystals? 🌿💎
Amethyst is a great focal point for scrying or meditation. It said to help with astral travel and any meditation regarding a spiritual matter. Do you have a favorite stone or crystal you like to use in your spiritual practice? 💜
Often in my busy schedule I forget to take time for myself to quiet my mind and read a book. 📚I used to be such an avid reader but as of late it seems like the distractions too often get in the way. What are your strategies for making time in your schedule to slow down and focus on what really brings you joy? 🌼
Self Care: Witch Style
- Put a lavender or rose essential oil in your bath. If you don’t have any, put some lotion of those scents in
- Place a rose quartz in your bath
- Bless the water to bring comfort and peace of mind
- After the bath, put some comforting-scented lotion on you
- Light some lavender incense
- Brew some chamomile tea
- If that’s not available, hot chocolate with milk works!
- Put some lavender, mint, or chamomile (a tea packet works!) under your pillow
- While showering, envision all your negative energy going down the drain witch each scrub
- Cuddle your familiar
- Meditate on the positives in life
- Sit down next on the ground (preferably next to a tree) and imagine roots going down into the ground from you. Visualize the negative energy going down the roots and into the roots. Imagine better energy coming from the Earth going up your roots and into you
- Put a rose quartz and a normal quartz(to amplify the effect) in your pocket!
- Sit or lie down on a very comfortable place. Breath slowly. Inhale for 7 seconds, hold for 3 seconds, and exhale for 5 second. With each exhale, envision a nasty fog of horrible energy come out of you
I have a tarot deck that was gifted to me made entirely of leather and just the major arcana. It has an extremely powerful energy to it, and I knew right away this was a tarot deck to be used in spell work, not divination. So I started meditating and looking into the cards and really thinking about what they could be used for/associations. So here’s what I came up with!
(Note: I mention curses in here because some of the cards do lend themselves really well to that. If you don’t curse personally, feel free to disregard those parts. This is based on my personal relationship with the cards, so your personal associations and meanings for your deck may be very different. Be sure to understand the nuances of your cards before using them in a spell.)
🗝0 The Fool: Wiping the slate clean, a fresh start. Opening oneself to new experiences and knowledge.
🗝I The Magician: Manifestation and invocation. Energy work. Personal capability. Utilizing the power already within you and bringing it to the surface.
🗝II The High Priestess: Secrets. Hide and obscure knowledge to others. Increased intuition. Knowledge of the occult. Learn other people’s hidden knowledge while keeping yours under wraps.
🗝III The Empress: Fertility and abundance. Vibrancy, nurturing. Also to some degree, sensuality and sexiness.
🗝IV The Emperor: Strength and stability. Generic masculine power. Traditionalism.
🗝V The Hierophant: Jobs, mentorship and other positions that require some level of conformity. Traditional knowledge, coming more from a dogma or set path rather than a personal experience.
🗝VI The Lovers: Love (obviously,) union, harmony between two people. But mostly love.
🗝VII The Chariot: Success, motivation, overcoming any nasty obstacle. Personal power working with outside powers for your benefit.
🗝VIII Justice: Pretty self explanatory. Justice, getting what one deserves for better or worse. Could also be used as an aid to help guide you to the best decision when stuck at a crossroads.
🗝IX The Hermit: Knowledge latent within oneself that you want to bring to the surface. Cutting ties between yourself and people/groups that no longer benefit you. Any spell designed to get people to stay away from you (but warning here, the Hermit doesn’t discriminate between the people you still want to see and those you don’t!)
🗝X Wheel of Fortune: Luck, a change of fate. Finding one’s true calling/destiny. A request of a long-term type of success.
🗝XI Strength: Emotional strength, mastery of emotions, self-control. Resilience and courage.
🗝XII The Hanged Man: Release of unwanted emotions, new perspectives. In a curse or hex setting, it can also be used to represent someone who has been traitorous, especially in decks with a more traditional art style.
🗝XIII Death: Can be used to represent death during rituals such as a dumb supper. Important endings, rebirth, shedding the skin of the past. Hard cutoffs.
🗝XIV Temperance: Balance, cleansing, a restoration of energies as they should be. Healing.
🗝XV The Devil: Addictive negativity. All things bad in life that can be avoided, but are easy to slip into. Can be used to sic this on someone else in a powerful hex, or can be used as a representation of your own demons as you break free from them.
🗝XVI The Tower: Another card that’s particularly good for offense magic. Sudden, unexpected crisis. A destruction of what one has been working for. Upheaval. Could also be used to try and protect oneself as much as possible from this before it happens, if you sense trouble ahead.
🗝XVII The Star: Hope, guidance, generosity. Can be used when searching for a sign for something or for a pathway to be illuminated.
🗝XVIII The Moon: Mystery, emotional/spiritual fog, being stuck in a grey area. Illusion, hiding/obscuring yourself or something else. Could be used as a more gentle hex to weaken somebody without wrecking them like some of the other cards. Alternatively, it could be used to represent the literal moon, as either a replacement (if you can’t access the moon) or as a way to draw down the moon’s power.
🗝XIX The Sun: Recharging, success, vitality and enlightenment. Celebration. A powerful source of positive and productive energies, but without a lot of direction on its own. Similarly to The Moon, it could also be used as a representation of the literal Sun.
🗝XX Judgement: Guidance in making tough decisions. Luck or good fortune in the final stages of something important. Reaping the benefits (or punishments, so be careful) of our work up to this point.
🗝XXI The World: Harmony, tying up loose ends. Completeness and wholeness. Resolution of all conflict.
The sign your moon is in is said to distinguish the relationship you have with your mother. You can experience both positive and negative traits of the relationship. Not everyone will experience the negative traits, so if you don’t, just look to the positives.
Aries: Your mother taught you to be courageous and to do anything you set your mind to. You saw your mother as strong and brave. You could have competed for your mother’s attention, she could have been too aggressive, pushy, and impulsive to you, making your self-esteem suffer.
Taurus: You find comfort in your mother who made you feel safe, secure, and loved. You learned from her to be steady, patient, and confident in yourself. But your mother could have neglected you in some way that made you feel vulnerable and unsafe.
Gemini: Your mother praised your intellect and your self-expression. Your mother nurtured you by stimulating your mind, having frequent discussions with you and allowing your mental energy to thrive. But, your mother could be distant emotionally, could rarely be home and always busy, could have raised you up in an unstable, unpredictable environment, or mother could be moody, nervous, and irritable.
Cancer: Your mother has always been nurturing, loving, and supportive of you in every way possible. She offers you guidance and understanding. But, your mother can be overbearing, especially if you move away or start a family of your own, etc. She can also be extremely emotional, moody, and over protective.
Leo: Your mother feels great pride in your beauty, accomplishments, and your dreams. She nurtures your need for attention and supports your talents and self-expression and offers generosity and a loving heart. But, your mother could force you to live out her own dreams, making you do things you don’t want to just for her sake.
Virgo: Your mother takes great care of you and is very helpful when it comes to any problems you may have, especially when it comes to work and education. She has high expectations of you and encourages you to do your best. But, she could be so much of a perfectionist that if you do not meet her standards, she can become obsessive and overbearing. She may often resort to criticizing you and nagging at you in such a way that it makes you feel like a failure or like you are doing something wrong.
Libra: Your mother is loving and kind, always making sure you have a balanced and peaceful life. She may have taught you to be well-mannered and fair. She pampers you and offers you emotional support. But, she could be so afraid of conflict and judgment from others, that she can be easily walked over by others or avoid confrontations and this can leave you feeling vulnerable if you or her are being hurt or threatened by others. She often overlooks remarks made by others about her and this can influence you to be pushed around just like she is.
Scorpio: From your mother, you gained emotional strength, intensity, and a mysterious persona. But your mother could have neglected or abandoned you in some way which left you feeling unwanted. Her influence on you makes you feel very paranoid of others and even yourself, making you have to be in control of your environment to feel secure. If your mother was in your life or reenters your life, you can experience manipulation from her.
Sagittarius: You have a fun-loving mother who taught you to believe in yourself and to always look on the bright side of life no matter what. You may have experienced traveling and frequent trips to stimulating places that allowed you to feel independent and free. But, your mother could be detached on an emotional level and may be quite distant. She is searching for answers she will never find.
Capricorn: Your mother is serious, conservative, and hard-working. Your mother taught you to become responsible for yourself and taught you the importance of maturity and self-sufficiency. But your mother could have restricted your time to be a child, putting overbearing worries and responsibilities on you at a young age. Your mother may have suffered from events that hindered her and made her depressed and irritable. You never truly had a childhood.
Aquarius: Your mother taught you the importance of being original, intelligent, and independent. She respected and supported your thinking and your intellect and was a friend to all of your friends and to the community. But, she could not connect with you on an emotional level most of the time and may have been considered as weird or unusual. She could have also been rebellious in a way that affected you negatively.
Pisces: Your mother is sensitive to you and your feelings, seemingly always feeling exactly as you are. She offers you compassion, care, and nurtured your brilliant imagination and creativity. But she may depend on you in an unhealthy way, have a mental illness, or may have addictive habits she must overcome.
